Olympian Efforts for Tyrone Textiles Relocation! 01 June 2008
Fabrics and textiles IT specialists Wharncliffe Business Systems have recently successfully completed a 35 user Realitex installation at Tyrone Textiles' new state of the art office and warehouse in North London.
When they set up their business in Stratford, in 1978, Tyrone didn't realise that by 2006, their warehouse would be sitting right in the middle of the London 2012 Olympics athletics track. Forced with the need to relocate, a number of sites were shortlisted and a design and build option at Riverwalk, Brimsdown was selected mainly because of its excellent transport links.
Tyrone Textiles have been a Realitex user for a number of years but as part of their relocation project, they also reviewed a number of systems ranging from standard accounting and ERP solutions to textile systems that purported to handle their processing needs. It was soon apparent however that Realitex was the most functional and best suited IT solution for their business. "The advanced functionality of the new Realitex interface and the intuitive Realitex warehouse management systems were far superior to the other systems we saw" commented Tony Moyes, Tyrone's Business Manager.
"We were delighted that our selection was vindicated when the Wharncliffe project team scheduled and completed this implementation with stopwatch efficiency and precision. It was imperative that all members of our teams knew what needed to be done and when. It was critical that every item was booked out of our old warehouse and into our new one," he added.
Tyrone installed the Realitex RF Warehousing Module before the move so warehouse staff could relocate barcoded stock items using Symbol wireless handheld scanners and a VPN was set up from Stratford to Riverwalk to facilitate relocating container loads of stock in real time. Realitex RF is now used to relocate stock items in the new warehouse and to carry out perpetual stock takes.
The Riverwalk warehouse includes a bulk area for containerised deliveries and an order picking area over 3 floors, with linked conveyors, equivalent to over 28,000 square feet.
"We are delighted with Wharncliffe's assistance and attention to detail with this critical project," commented Alan Baum, Tyrone Textiles Director. "Even the Wharncliffe engineers considered every eventuality working until the early hours to ensure our business at Riverwalk was 100% operational from 9.00 am!"
